Free Digital Images is not a typical stock image website. The photos on this site are primarily aimed at artists searching for reference material. There is no need to subscribe or to log in and, (subject to certain conditions), there is no need to pay a fee to download our photos .
So what exactly is Free Digital Images?
Primarily we are a resource gallery for artists to use as reference for their paintings or other artwork. Any artist wishing to download our photos and use them as reference may do so for free. There is no copyright restriction on such use. See Terms and Conditions for full details.
How do you differ from stock photo sites?
Apart from the need to join, log in or otherwise jump through hoops to download the photos on many stock photo sites the main difference is the size and quality of our free photos. Many stock photo sites allow you to download small images free, but charge a fee to see the high resolution image. All our photos are of super high quality and size. And all are free.
When might I be expected to pay a fee?
We charge a fee if you require to use the image for any commercial purpose. See our Purchase page for full details. Using the photos as reference for a painting, even if the likeness is almost photographic is not a commercial use.
